New
Moon Press emerged from the bitter Gulf Coast
redfish fights of the 1980s and early 1990s.
As powerful sportsmen sought to monopolize
this prized renewable resource, they began
to “educate” the general public.
Louisiana commercial fisherman Robert Fritchey
wrote “Wetland Riders” as an alternative
to the anglers’ self-serving propaganda,
and he founded New Moon Press to publish and
distribute his book to interested readers.
“Wetland Riders” plainly makes
the case that sharing the redfish and other
renewable fishery resources with the general
public is in the best interest of both the
public and the resources themselves. Presently,
when few others are able, New Moon Press continues
to illuminate the timely and contentious issue
of “Fishing: Sport versus Commercial,
Fun versus Food.”
